Chuck Smith

In the 1960's, a group of Christians, led by a man named Chuck Smith, burdened by the lost, opened his home and shared the gospel to a group of hippies. Soon after, more came to listen to Chuck Smith teach about the Bible, and gave their lives to Christ. This small group of Christians that gathered in a small home, birthed into what is now called Calvary Chapel, one of the biggest Christian, Bible believing churches in America.

Today, there are over 1,000 Calvary Chapel churches scattered all over world and around 50 in the Philippines, and Harvest Christian Fellowship (HCF), New Manila, Quezon City is among its sister churches in the country.

In 1986, a pastor named Dain Wadley visited the Philippines on a mission trip and it was then that he planted HCF in Quezon City. It began as a biblical counseling center with a radio program in DZAS called "A Time of Harvest", soon, it developed into a church.

Seven years after, in 1993, Pastor Dain Wadley was called to return to the U.S., but before he left, Pastor Wadley ordained Dominador Tan, Jr. as senior pastor of HCF. From then on, up to the present, Dominador has pastored this church.

From 1993 to 1998, Pastor Tan sat as board member of Survival Ministries under Pastor Chuck Saunders. Survival Ministries is a feeding and medical assistance program for the impoverished.

The Horizon School of Evangelism in Olongapo City, headed by Pastor Kevin Brooks of Calvary Chapel San Diego, California, appointed Pastor Tan as one of its board members in 1994. He also became board member of Calvary Chapel, Olongapo under Pastor Mike Vrooman of Calvary Chapel Hawaii, from 1994- 2000.

Now, on its 20th year in existence, Harvest Christian Fellowship, Quezon City has been steadfast in its sole commitment of proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ to every one regardless of race, culture and belief, assuring them of God's love and wonderful plan of salvation.

In the past years, Harvest has been actively involved in several ministries and out-reaches. From 1990 to 1993, the church faithfully served the detainees at the Manila City Jail, through its Jail ministry. Here, numerous inmates came to know Jesus Christ and were miraculously transformed.

For over five years now, the church has been reaching out to some 50 less privileged children from a depressed area in Cubao, through its Sunday school, feeding and Christmas gift-giving programs.

Ever since its establishment in 1986, Harvest Christian Fellowship has never solicited funds from any individual or organization. It is neither a church practice to pass an offering basket during Sunday services or any church gatherings.

As God has commissioned this church to go and preach the gospel, Harvest Christian Fellowship believes that He will equip the church with everything it needs to be able to effectively serve others and proclaim His name. It has been 20 years since HCF's first Sunday service, and until now, God has proven Himself faithful in sustaining this church financially.

Relying solely on God's provision, Harvest Christian Fellowship has the following ministries / out-reaches: weekly Sunday service, Wednesday-night Bible Study, Friday-night prayer meeting, Saturday discipleship on Evangelism, monthly evangelistic praise and worship night, monthly men's prayer breakfast, single's ministry, Sunday school, feeding program, and evangelistic out-reaches out of town.
